Okinawa
Okinawa and the surrounding islands are the southernmost point of Japan. Okinawa is the main island, and from there you can easily get around to the other surrounding islands. It is easiest to fly domestically from either Osaka or Tokyo. There are many good and cheap tickets, so you don't necessarily need to book well in advance. We recommend just staying on the main island for one day. Instead, use the time to experience some of the other less touristy islands around, and possibly take a boat trip out into the turquoise water. Here you can experience beautiful white sandy beaches and sea turtles. If you want to spend the night on Okinawa, we can recommend “ORRS OKINAWA”, which is a nice little hotel and shop.
The public transportation on Okinawa is not super good, so rent a car and get around cheaply and easily.
We suggest you stop by these:
Shurijo Castle
Beautiful Japanese castle
Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium
Here you can see whale sharks, among other things!
The beach
Beautiful white sandy beaches. But be aware that the Japanese are a bit strict about where you can bathe.
If you get hungry during your visit, we can recommend these places to eat:
Zhyvago Coffee Works Okinawa
Cozy breakfast and lunch place, with good coffee.
Vongo & Anchor
Located on the promenade, with ocean view.
Yoshihachi
Really good Sushi
